A play on words of the french version of the Hitchcock film Marnie, (Pas de printemps pour Marnie,) LE PRINTEMPS DE MARNIE is a great boutique run by its two owners Lise Résibois et Elsa Bardon. The shop is open from 2pm-7pm on Mondays and from 10pm -7pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Mai Baeg 4 rue Leo Blum, Nantes.

La droguerie is one of those fanastic old shops that you rarely see in England anymore. Its full of beautiful buttons, fabrics, yarns, patterns and embroidery kits etc - I could spend all day in there! Its at 24 rue de la Fosse just near the entrance to Passage Pommeraye.

READ-IN OR TAKE-OUT!

A great arts bookshop where you can read books in comfy chairs in front of the fire or buy and take home your books, comme habitude! The interior, set in the ruins of the chateau, is cosy and just like-from-home.

La trés petite librairie, 58 bis, rue des halles at Clisson.

In the same road is this

magnificent old chocolate shop

Georges Gautier, the oldest in Nantes, and an institution as it started trading when cacoa first started being unloaded from the cargo holds in the old port of Nantes. It is such a beautiful shop, well worth a visit even if you don't like chocolate!
